All the Cool Girls Are Obsessed With This Workout Clothing Brand

Unveiling the Hype: My Adventure with TikTok's Favorite Workout Clothing Brand

If you've been immersed in the online world lately, chances are you've come across Halara, the hot new activewear brand that has captured the attention of all the trendsetting girls. With claims of offering Lululemon-quality apparel at a more affordable price point, I couldn't resist the urge to try it out for myself. Though apprehensive about buying online without trying on, I was swayed by the raving product reviews on their website and the enthusiastic endorsements from TikTok influencers. So, with great anticipation, I placed my order and eagerly awaited the arrival of my package—though it did take a painstaking two weeks to reach me. Without further ado, here's my honest take on the best-selling items I tried from TikTok's beloved affordable athleisurewear brand.

1 -Everyday Dress
This piece, popular among the cool girls, instantly won me over. It combines the best elements of other Halara favorites: a similar fit to the cropped tank, the comfort of the high-waisted shorts, and the style and functionality of biker shorts. While not necessarily my go-to gym ensemble, it's perfect for a confident stroll, casual brunch, or even a spontaneous tennis match (or an attempt at one, like myself). Moreover, it's versatile enough to dress up or down effortlessly. By throwing on a jacket or tying a flannel around your waist and swapping sneakers for sandals, you can completely transform your look.

2 -High-Waisted Pocket Shorts
As someone who carries a bit more weight in my legs and booty, I've always struggled with finding well-fitting shorts. Therefore, I didn't have high expectations for these, but the rave reviews and the appealing appearance of the model caught my attention. Although they were incredibly comfortable and could easily double as lounge shorts, they didn't quite meet my expectations. Personally, I prefer my shorts a bit longer for better coverage during workouts and to prevent the dreaded inner-thigh chafing. The fabric, though delightfully soft, is thin and prone to riding up and bunching. Additionally, the leg openings aren't as roomy as they appear on the model. While I would wear them again, they wouldn't be my top choice for rigorous exercise routines.

3 -Ruffle Hem Shorts
My feelings toward these shorts are a bit complicated. Surprisingly, I found the fit of these shorts to be more appealing than the High-Waisted Pocket Shorts, thanks to their looser fit in the legs. However, dare I say they were too loose? The baggier fit, coupled with the ruffle hem (initially the main selling point for me), made them feel more like sleepwear than workout attire. Halara does label them as "casual" shorts, which aligns with their fit, but since they weren't categorized as loungewear, I had hoped they could still be worn outside the house. While this pair might work for some, if you desire more coverage and a put-together look during your workouts, I'd recommend looking elsewhere. Nonetheless, they are perfect as lounge shorts.

4 -Padded Tank Top
I've never been one for crop tops, even during my wildest party days. However, lately, I've been drawn to the look of long-line sports bras, so I decided to give this trend a try. Lo and behold, I've discovered my new favorite workout top. It's a tad tight (I followed the size chart), but that actually works well for high-impact workouts as it provides support despite lacking adjustable straps. The snug fit also ensures the top stays in place while you're in motion, eliminating any worries about the hem rolling up.

5 -High-Waisted Biker Shorts
Move over, Princess Diana, because these high-waisted biker shorts have become a staple in my everyday wardrobe. They possess the same heavenly softness as the High-Waisted Pocket Shorts but offer a slightly thicker fabric, imparting a more substantial feel and successfully passing the squat test. However, they do fall short in the roll test. I find myself readjusting them frequently, but that could be attributed to their slightly tight fit, which could be resolved by sizing up. While I wouldn't recommend them for intense workouts like running or HIIT, they have become my go-to for leisurely walks, stretching sessions, and creating effortlessly stylish on-the-go outfits.

6 -Side Pocket Biker Shorts
While these biker shorts didn't quite capture my heart like their traditional counterpart, I still appreciate them enough to pair them with my collection of oversized tees and sweatshirts. Despite ordering both pairs in the same size, this particular style fits significantly tighter, and they have a tendency to roll up more than regular Biker Shorts. I may or may not have encountered a seam or two casualties while attempting to pull them over my legs and booty. However, one aspect I absolutely adore about these shorts is Halara's signature pet hair-resistant fabric. Initially skeptical about its effectiveness, I am pleasantly surprised as a proud cat mom that I no longer need to reach for a lint roller between cuddling my fur babies and running errands. Since I primarily wear these at home and for quick errands, it's a relief to have a fabric that helps keep pet hair at bay.

The Verdict
I must concede to the wisdom of the TikTok girls on this one. Halara impresses with its exceptional quality, stylish designs, and wallet-friendly price point, making it a fantastic alternative to the likes of Lululemon and Alo. However, I do hope that as the brand continues to flourish, they prioritize showcasing more diversity in body shapes and sizes among their models. This would greatly benefit mid-size and plus-size girls, allowing them to gauge how the pieces will fit on a broader spectrum. Despite some trial and error, I managed to find pieces that make me feel confident and excited to sport them during my next gym session or leisurely Target run. Halara has certainly earned a well-deserved spot in my athleisure collection.
